Well, guess who loves to do the Starbucks Pose?

Hi Leyn,
I always visit your site and read about those interesting articles. I learn a lot from your blogs, so thanks for that.
I just want to ask for your help about those what they call vintage accessories. Cause i have few of those accessories and I don’t know if I’m wearing it with the right clothes. So please help me find the right clothes for those accessories

I attached a picture of one of my vintage accessory, just to help you picture it in your mind

ANNA
Dear ANNA,
I’m not sure if you sent an e-mail twice but sorry for this super late reply. I hope you still read my blog. Lol.
Anyway, vintage accessories are really in right now. And these lovely pieces can be matched with almost any type of clothing so the style is versatile. So that everyone knows what I’m talking about, here are the necklaces I’m referring to:

This week, I feel like I’m haunted by Willie Revillame because of all his ads and “Wil” products that I see. Nakakatakot.

Wenk.)
While a lot of drop-dead-gorgeous guys strive to become Bench models, here’s Mr. Wowowee himself endorsing for the brand. Indeed, it doesn’t take class for you to become a face of fashion and lifestyle here in the Philippines. All you need is popularity and money. But one lesson learned from Willie – fame must not get into your head. Because I think his Bench ad should’ve looked like this:

Go figure.
Coincidentally, I found something interesting that’s related to my previous post.
If you can’t buy the bag, buy its candy version instead…

These are very very cute and tasty designer lollipops from photographer Massimo Gammacurta’s concept – Chanel, LV, Gucci and YSL made edible.
For candy companies out there, I don’t care if you get sued (lol) but please come up with something like this. These lollipops are perfect for people who want to get their high end fashion fix on a sari-sari store budget. Like 10 pesos Chanel? Not bad ah! Haha.
If you can’t buy it, have it tattooed!
Just like (my-not-so-favorite-Hollywood-celeb) Lindsay Lohan during the Cannes International Film Fest. Lilo pays tribute to the fashion house Chanel with her fresh bird-in-flight tattoo on her right wrist which was first seen at the event.

Nice idea. If you can’t think of a tattoo design aside from the usual butterfly, peace sign or tribal, have your favorite designer brand inked on your skin.

Gandaaaaa. Hahaha.
No I’m just kidding. Don’t do this please, unless you really love designers.
As shown on old comedy sitcoms, grandmas usually stuff their money inside their bras and everyone else gets weirded out by the scene. Would you believe that the idea has already been applied to the modern bra? Introducing the Cleavage Caddy…

What the…? It’s an accessory you can attach to your bra where you can fill your handy valuables in – pen, money, cards and even your cellphone! Haha! This is an answered prayer for girls who hate carrying a purse during parties. Double purpose pa, you can use it as a hidden bag and an alternative for silicon breasts at the same time. Wenk.
Ayun nga lang, bear the embarrassment when you pay bills, answer phone calls and swipe your cards. You have to get your things out of your rack.
Last Saturday (May 22), I attended Candy Magazine’s 2nd year of BFF Camp at Rockwell Tent, Makati. Ok wait, don’t raise your eyebrows at me. I know some of the attendees are waaaay too young and I might be 10 years older than them but at least give me a chance to experience this.
There were supposed to be 200 limited slots for the event but Candy was kind enough to invite me and a BFF to enjoy this day. But seriously, I was hesitant to go dahil baka magmukha akong tiyahin ng mga aattend. LOL! Plus the fact that I have more guy friends than girl friends, I was thinking – who the hell’s willing to accompany me in an event where we’ll do some dressing up and dancing? with 15 year old girls?
But thanks to Ms. AA for including me on the Press Guest List. For that, I wasn’t pressured to dance at all. Haha. Here are some photos from the event:
This year’s Candy BFF Camp was hosted by Magic 89.9 DJs Andi Manzano and Jessica Mendoza. Thanks to Ms. Jessica for the solo pic I requested, my friend almost died when I gave it to him.

I was actually late when I came in to the event, like 6 hours late (blame the traffic at EDSA). So I only got to see the last activity which was the collage making contest.

While everyone’s busy doing their stuff, I took picture around the venue. I wasn’t sure if I can get free snacks (lol) but there were food stalls like NY Fries & Dips and Red Mango. Other booths were sponsors like RRJ, Jergens, Caronia, Russ, Nikon and Havaianas (which co-presented the event).

I still remember that I usually buy Candy Mag’s September issue because of the Candy Cuties, and now I’m seeing them in person! But when one of them called me “Ate” after I requested them to pose for my camera, it really broke my heart. Haha!

Oooh, look what we have here. A surprise for the Candy girls…

…because they gave away the large-sized Candy covers of the Twilight stars. The girls who won the Edward and Jacob posters almost cried after getting their prize. I would do the same if Coco Martin was on the cover.

And Lastly, the awarding and photo ops.

At the end, everyone obviously had a great time participating at the camp. I envy today’s Candy girls because during my teenage years, there were no events like this. The BFF Camp workshops and activities surely help in empowering girls as they discover their creative skills and strengthen their friendships. Also, it’s really overwhelming when you get to meet the people behind the magazine you read. As EIC Mia Custodio says about this event, “I love talking to Candy Girls face to face, and the BFF Camp is the perfect day for bonding. Everything we editors do is dedicated to the reader, and meeting her up close is always an amazing feeling.”
Again, I would like to thank Ms. AA Abjelina of Summit Media for accommodating me.
More details will be featured on the magazine. Candy Mag is available in magazine stands, bookstores, and supermarkets nationwide. For more of Candy online, visit www.Candymag.com.
Relating to my previous entry about fake designer bags, fashion enthusiasts say that it’s better to make a brand parody rather than faking it. Just like this cute improvised Chanel idea circulating on the internet…

Well it’s actually pretty, but not anyone can pull it off! So I came up with something – Sosyalera.net’s How to Make a Chanel Bag:

Bwahahaha! WTF!
Pekp*k shorts? WHAT?!

People, they’re called Daisy Dukes. Daisy Duke is actually a television character from the 1970s American series The Dukes of Hazzard, who popularized these form-fitting denim shorts.

It’s funny that here in the Philippines, these mini shorts were named after the tagalog word for vagina. How creative is that? It even has a facebook account. Kaso ansagwa talaga ng tawag. When shopping, would you ask the sales lady to direct you to the pekp*k shorts section? WTF!
Pero dahil sa likas na pagka-malikhain ng mga Pinoy, I won’t be surprised if someday, there will be a male counterpart of these shorts…
Ack!
Good day Ms. Leyn,
I know that you already have a lot of queries asking for tips on clothing for petite people, but I always find that the description of these petite people differ from my body type. I don’t exactly know what body type I am so I attached a few pictures that I hope could help you.
I’m around 5 feet tall (give or take 1 inch) and skinny like most people around my age.
Any tips on dressing up would be of really great help because I will be entering college this June and since I come from 13 years of schooling with uniforms, I don’t exactly know how to dress myself continuously every day as i’m used to usually wearing house clothes after school and just the plain t-shirt and pants kind of clothes when I’m out. Hopefully you can give me tips on what would look nice on me and what to stay away from.
Thank you for taking your time to read this, and I hope you choose to reply to this e-mail through your site

Dear collegedazed,
Hey there, I saw your pictures and you’re actually cute. Can you date my single guy friends? Lol. Just kidding.
You know what, if ever I’ll be given a chance to change my body built, I’d choose being petite because small girls look cute when dressed up. Looking at your pictures, I believe you can be in any type of clothing because you’re long-legged regardless of being small. If you didn’t mention your height, I’d actually think you’re 5′3.
First, always remember these clothing tips for petite girls.
Second, check what’s in your closet. Set aside your old ‘junks’ and gradually switch to stylish clothes instead of the usual jeans and baggy shirt outfit. These are the basic must-haves in your closet:

I don’t know why I am fond of Lady Gaga despite of not being a fan of Hollywood singers and Pop Stars. I’ve been listening to her songs even way before her singles were not yet popular. I was actually influenced by some straight guy friends to listen to her album. Haha. From then on, my playlist is always updated with her songs and she never fails to amuse me with her weird fashion statement. Parang laging may resemblance:

Everything’s just crazy but at least with character. No wonder her looks are imitated by people. Even celebrities here in the Philippines…

Jolina Magdangal = Lady Gaga of the Philippines? LMAO.

A heads up for those who love accessories…
Aldo brand freshly introduced their newest collection of colorful and youthful accessories that women of all ages would definitely love. Colors, textures, and layering were obviously the brand’s ideas for their newly launched collection.

Though I am not totally promoting Aldo (kasi their accessories are quite expensive), these pieces can just be an inspiration the next time you shop for summer accessories. Colorful thin bracelets and flower-inspired rings are all the rage this summer that can give life to a plain looking dress.

Lately I’ve been eyeing for fancy accessories because gold and diamonds can put your life in danger. I mean, holdapers are everywhere. So if you don’t want to get killed just because of fashion… wear plastic.

But to my surprise, I knew lately that Tretorn had a collaboration with Comme des Garcons (a Japanese fashion label) and the revived shoe style has evolved – more updated but still with a touch of Tretorn’s classic signature:

Also a heads up, PUMA relaunched Tretorn this year. Hindi tulad ng classic Trets na ginagamit ko dati tuwing PE Class, the style improved and became more fashionable. Perfect for casual wear, outdoor and even for your lookbook get-up. Haha.

I recently saw a Tretorn outlet in a Res-Toe-Run shoe branch. Grab a pair if you’re a fan of these canvas shoes.
