Mirror Mirror

November 23, 2010 @ 12:00 am | Categories dear sosyalera

Dear Sosyalera,

jamie

Dear Jamie,

Isang malaking LOL para sa iyong problema. Hindi dahil nakakatawa but I know a lot of people can relate to your problem. Actually, I already realized this, way before Ive been taking pictures of myself.

For everyone, do a little experiment, if you want to know what you actually look like in front of other people, make a video of yourself then watch it afterwards ang itsura nyo sa video ang katotohanan. Its because the video can show our different expressions at different angles. Unlike in the mirror, pwede kang mag-project, pwede ka umanggulo. Samantalang sa video, wala kang takas.

Another one, try to look for a digital picture that you think you really look good. Tipong picture perfect. Then open our lifesaver Adobe Photoshop and mirror the image horizontally. So what happened? Pwedeng mabago ang itsura mo, nawala sa anggulo, o parang hindi bagay compared to the original position of the image. This is what happens in reality, a photograph is the image other people see when they look at you.

Kung naka yabang DSLR ka naman, it might be because of the distortion due to the lens. There are camera lenses that gives you this lollipop effect that can make your head bigger and stretched compared to what you actually see. Though whatever camera youre using, if you still feel ugly than what you see on the mirror, then you have to accept the fact that youre not photogenic. Lol.

So my answer is, the mirror can be deceiving. Mas maniwala ka sa sa litrato. Thats why pretty girls and boys with balanced face symmetry are lucky because they look fine even on different angles hindi na kailangan itaas ang camera phone para gumanda ang anggulo tuwing pipicturan. Thats the reason why you have to submit a VTR when you want to audition for a commercial. You might be pretty, but not everyone has the perfect projection. :)

I hope that helped you a bit. Lol.

Love Lots,

Leyn

Well looking at the planners for this year, parang nothing special naman. Yet a lot of people want to have it. If you compute for the actual price of the planner, its equals to 17 starbucks drinks costing more than 2k pesos. Katumbas na ito ng 2 planner from Fully Booked at 10 black organizers from National Bookstore.

Most people dont actually use the planner, pinang-didisplay lang. IMO, nothing special ang SB planners this year. The thrill of collecting the Starbucks stickers is like how you feel when you level up on Farmville. We are addicted to numbers. And lastly, because Pinoys are brand conscious, Starbucks eh.

Jeje.

What Men Think About Fashion

November 11, 2010 @ 12:00 am | Categories fashion, tips & suggestions

Naturally, women have more fashion sense than men. Most straight guys arent that conscious with fashion trends and clothing. Us girls are more conscious with regards to clothing and style. We make sure to know the latest trends yet we can still manage to wear clothes that are practical and comfortable. But arent you curious with what men actually think about what we wear? Especially the latest fashions?

According to Mens Health magazine, blogs and remarks from my guy friends, just because a fashion is trendy, it doesnt mean that boys actually like it for girls:

Most guys dont appreciate head scarves. Kahit Hermes scarf pa yan, the price doesnt attract them.

Bold necklaces and bracelets are hip but men prefer fewer accessories like thin jewelries or a pair of pearl earrings.

About pants, men think that boyish trousers and high waist pants are more appropriate to be worn as office attire instead of wearing them during casual days. Of course theyd like to see girls in sexier bottoms like skinny or stretch jeans.

100 % of men like women in dresses or skirts. Dresses bring out the feminine side of a woman. Id recommend that girls should wear dresses on their first date. Only 25 % of men like maxi dresses. Siguro dahil mukhang daster.

Because tunics dont flatter a womans shape, only a few men like tunics.

Men prefer clothes with simpler or plain prints than bold patterns.

Guys are turned on with girls wearing the boyfriend shirt which is better paired off with mini shorts.

Obviously, most men like styles that are a bit sexy and womanly. Lol. These are just reminders for girls who want to dress up and impress their dates. But also remember that we have our unique style and fashion. Be yourself and your guy will like you. :D

Virgin Hair

November 8, 2010 @ 12:00 am | Categories dear sosyalera

Hi Miss Leyn,

Im a silent reader of your blog and I check for updates daily. I am writing to you to seek advice for my hair. My hair is long and my problem is, its a bit wavy and it looks dry. Gusto ko magpa-rebond but Im really afraid to try anything or any procedure on my hair. Im afraid na it will look too thin and too flat sa taas. I wanna know if there are products that can really help me straighten my hair and make it shiny, healthy and thick. Im patient with products naman as long as it works. My hair used to be really healthy but I dont know what happened na it ended up like this. I said na I want my hair thick so that if magpa-rebond man ako, Ill be more confident na it wont look too thin and flat.

My friends have been suggesting na bumili daw ako ng rebonding products sa drug stores and do it na lang at home rather than in a hair salon but Im still afraid to try. Sabi din nung iba horse shampoo daw if I want my hair thicker and healthy-looking. Do you agree? If you know products that are effective, please suggest some. And what shampoo to maintain it? Btw, I also have dandruff. I really hope you can help me with this.

Keep inspiring people. Thanks a lot. :)

Ann

Dear Ann,

Meron bang loud reader? Wenk. Okay, first I need to be straightforward that Im no hair expert. I also depend on products and treatments for my hair maintenance. Pero Ive been experimenting with my hair since then until I finally got the style I wanted and treatment that I needed.

  • Rebonding can really make your hair look flat. The problem is, may binabagayan ang straight and flat style. It usually depends on the structure of your face. For round and fuller face, volumized hair is better. If youre unsure about rebonding, try the relax treatment. It also straightens the hair but not as harsh as rebonding.

  • With your case, avoid using rebonding products from drug stores especially if you havent tried them yet. Your friends may have recommended specific products but remember that our hair types are different. Fine or thin strands are sensitive with chemicals and rebonding products are usually chemical-based so you have to be careful.

  • I havent tried Mane and Tail shampoo. It sounds funny to use horse shampoo but even my friends told me that the brand is effective. You have nothing to lose if you try this for weeks since its just for cleansing the hair. Try to use different shampoo brands and see whats right for you
