Candy Fair 2010

Teens got the ultimate sugar rush last October 2, 2010, as Candy magazine staged a Candyland-themed Candy Fair at the A. Venue Hall in Makati City. The Candy Fair is the biggest event of Candy magazine for its readers and this year’s festivities are extra special as Candy celebrates its 11th anniversary.

The Candy girls who came to the Candy Fair 2010 had the sweetest time as they got to mingle with their favorite Candy Cuties at the different booths and during the game segments. Activities that guests were able to enjoy were a bungee trampoline, marriage and jail booths, a candy store and a freedom wall where Candy readers were able to express themselves on a giant photo mosaic composed of their very own shots.

Hosted by Starstruck V Ultimate Male Survivor Steven Silva and Star Magic talent Megan Young, the Candy Fair featured performances and special appearances by celebrity Candy Cuties Elmo and Arkin Magalona, Sam Conception, Martin del Rosario, Lance Christopher, Jose Sarsola, Albie Casino, Nico Ibaviosa, Gigger Boys AJ Perez and Enrique Gil, PBB Teen Clash alumni Ryan Bang, Ivan Dorschner, Bret Jackson and Patrick Sugui, and Starstrucks V’s Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, Sef Cadaona and Ian Batherson. Nico Salva of Ateneo Blue Eagles basketball team, this year’s crop of candy Cuties and some hopefuls from TV5’s newest talent-search show Star Factor also came to show their support to the Candy Fair.

The Candy Fair 2010 was co-presented by Grendha and Terranova and sponsored by Sun Cellular, Vitress, Splash and Pure ‘n Fresh.

And here are some pictures of the event…

Candy BFF Camp 2010

Last Saturday (May 22), I attended Candy Magazine’s 2nd year of BFF Camp at Rockwell Tent, Makati. Ok wait, don’t raise your eyebrows at me. I know some of the attendees are waaaay too young and I might be 10 years older than them but at least give me a chance to experience this.

There were supposed to be 200 limited slots for the event but Candy was kind enough to invite me and a BFF to enjoy this day. But seriously, I was hesitant to go dahil baka magmukha akong tiyahin ng mga aattend. LOL! Plus the fact that I have more guy friends than girl friends, I was thinking – who the hell’s willing to accompany me in an event where we’ll do some dressing up and dancing? with 15 year old girls?

But thanks to Ms. AA for including me on the Press Guest List. For that, I wasn’t pressured to dance at all. Haha. Here are some photos from the event:

This year’s Candy BFF Camp was hosted by Magic 89.9 DJs Andi Manzano and Jessica Mendoza. Thanks to Ms. Jessica for the solo pic I requested, my friend almost died when I gave it to him.

I was actually late when I came in to the event, like 6 hours late (blame the traffic at EDSA). So I only got to see the last activity which was the collage making contest.

While everyone’s busy doing their stuff, I took picture around the venue. I wasn’t sure if I can get free snacks (lol) but there were food stalls like NY Fries & Dips and Red Mango. Other booths were sponsors like RRJ, Jergens, Caronia, Russ, Nikon and Havaianas (which co-presented the event).

I still remember that I usually buy Candy Mag’s September issue because of the Candy Cuties, and now I’m seeing them in person! But when one of them called me “Ate” after I requested them to pose for my camera, it really broke my heart. Haha!

Oooh, look what we have here. A surprise for the Candy girls…

…because they gave away the large-sized Candy covers of the Twilight stars. The girls who won the Edward and Jacob posters almost cried after getting their prize. I would do the same if Coco Martin was on the cover.

And Lastly, the awarding and photo ops.

At the end, everyone obviously had a great time participating at the camp. I envy today’s Candy girls because during my teenage years, there were no events like this. The BFF Camp workshops and activities surely help in empowering girls as they discover their creative skills and strengthen their friendships. Also, it’s really overwhelming when you get to meet the people behind the magazine you read. As EIC Mia Custodio says about this event, “I love talking to Candy Girls face to face, and the BFF Camp is the perfect day for bonding. Everything we editors do is dedicated to the reader, and meeting her up close is always an amazing feeling.”

Again, I would like to thank Ms. AA Abjelina of Summit Media for accommodating me.

More details will be featured on the magazine. Candy Mag is available in magazine stands, bookstores, and supermarkets nationwide. For more of Candy online, visit www.Candymag.com.
