Ugly Clogs

Foot Locker (a US footwear retailer) defines a ‘hot chick with lousy shoes’ as Buttershoes. Some say it was derived from the phrase ‘but her shoes’ which makes sense.

But this isn’t about the sneakers…

The concept is reasonable because I never liked clogs as worn by the first girl on the ad. I know a lot of people hate Crocs but how about the Louis Vuitton clogs? The Marni Clogs? You might think again because of the brand, but I really don’t like clogs! Unfortunately, just like the slender Kitten Heels, Clogs are appearing at designers runway this year and will remain (as predicted) until 2011. But if you’re into these bulky shoes, make sure you pick the ones with high heels (which still don’t look appealing to me but not as bad as flat clogs).

Pero oooooops, may clogs nga pala kami sa bahay.

Those are my feet, but definitely not my crocs. :P

Kitten Heels

For no reason, I might be blogging just about shoes for my next entries.

I always endorse wearing high heels especially if you’re going out for a party or formal events, which is kind of frustrating. Well good news for those who want to wear shoes with heels but can’t manage to walk in 4″ high. Just so you know, Kitten Heels are coming back. A kitten heel is actually a slender heel with only a height of 2 inches or less. A pair of pointed kitten heels is better matched with minimal designed clothing like your office corporate slacks or solid-colored mini dress.

I personally don’t have this ‘kitten style’ dahil mas lalo akong natitipilok. But looking at these gorgeous shoes from Missoni Spring 2010, I might take it into consideration:

High Heels Hurt

Random Question of the Day:

Masakit ba mag-suot ng high heels?

This is for some guys who always ask me this question. And the answer is YES. Obviously, wearing high heels is like hell. They say that 5″ designer shoes don’t hurt as much as normal high heels because of extra cushion and quality. But believe me, even the most expensive Jimmy Choos hurt and the most experienced supermodel aches in a pair of 6″ platform pumps.

But why wear heels?

Fashion is given, but the main reason is to look sexy. I know most of you have already watched porn. Notice that porn stars still wear their high heels even without their clothes on. Haha! A porn star wearing clogs looks weird, right? But before anyone thinks that I watch too much porn (lol), basically, high heels are a symbol of sophistication, liberation and classiness. So guys, enough of the “stop-wearing-heels-if-you’re-not-comfortable” cliché. It’s just a girl’s way of looking good and sexy. :)

Taylor Momsen Make-Up

Ok, so according to Taylor Momsen’s interview on MTV, she just fired her stylist. Thus, she has no stylist. Wenk. I know most of you just love her rocker chick style on Gossip Girl and I’m a bit guilty of this. But lately, I’m no longer digging her mature look especially her make-up, as she put tons of charcoal eye-liner and bloody red lipstick.

“I think firing my stylist has allowed me to be more free. I was getting molded into this thing that wasn’t who I am.

With her look, she’s not Little J anymore, I think she wants to be The Joker.

Hipster Fashion Cycle

Do you hate it when your favorite clothes and styles become so mainstream that even people you don’t like wear them? Admit it, you (or even me) may have been picking on jologs fashion like loud colors, jejecaps and skinny jeans just because everybody has them. So we tend to shift to styles that are not so popular with the masses, then start to hate the trends again once they’re getting popular. We are all hipsters in our own way. So I present to you Emily Miethner’s Hipster Fashion Cycle… o kung paano nagiging jologs ang isang fashion statement:

Agree? 90% I’d say YES. Fashion is just a cycle. Old becomes new and vice versa. That’s why I always advise to keep your old clothes because you might use them someday.

10% NO. Because some jologs people are naturally baduy. Hehe.

Construction Worker

I am not generalizing but I know you know what I mean.

In relation to fashion (LOL! segue), Elle Brazil has featured a concept of fashion with hard hats and construction setting. Seriously, I am starting to realize that fashion magazines really come up with crazy concepts and locations. Parang kung saan-saan nalang…

Construction worker with Make-up? WTF. LOL.

Food as Fashion

Fashion and Food indeed don’t go together because models starve themselves just to fit in a size 0 dress so it’s ironic to combine them in one idea. But to photographer Fulvio Bonavia, it’s possible. Here are some of his photos from his latest concept shoot – A matter of taste.

A Raspberry Bag

Pasta Belt

Rice Boots

Chocolate Earrings

The Broccoli Bag

Cashew Sandals

Yum yum yum!

Miss Tapia

Before, I thought that Miss Tapia has the worst fashion style ever. And that I won’t wear something like that when I grow older.

However, if you’ve been a fan of designers runway, then you probably have spotted Miss Tapia’s look among Prada’s Fall Collection 2010:

Bakit ganun, ang ganda tignan sa kanila? Hahaha. I know the pieces are not wearable here in our country but if you want an updated style ala Prada, then just so you know, Cat Eye Glasses are in now.

Classic. Stylish. Fierce. Magmumukha kang school principal.

Pinay Lady Gaga

I don’t know why I am fond of Lady Gaga despite of not being a fan of Hollywood singers and Pop Stars. I’ve been listening to her songs even way before her singles were not yet popular. I was actually influenced by some straight guy friends to listen to her album. Haha. From then on, my playlist is always updated with her songs and she never fails to amuse me with her weird fashion statement. Parang laging may resemblance:

Everything’s just crazy but at least with character. No wonder her looks are imitated by people. Even celebrities here in the Philippines…

Jolina Magdangal = Lady Gaga of the Philippines? LMAO.

Batang Tretorn

But to my surprise, I knew lately that Tretorn had a collaboration with Comme des Garcons (a Japanese fashion label) and the revived shoe style has evolved – more updated but still with a touch of Tretorn’s classic signature:

Also a heads up, PUMA relaunched Tretorn this year. Hindi tulad ng classic Trets na ginagamit ko dati tuwing PE Class, the style improved and became more fashionable. Perfect for casual wear, outdoor and even for your lookbook get-up. Haha.

I recently saw a Tretorn outlet in a Res-Toe-Run shoe branch. Grab a pair if you’re a fan of these canvas shoes. Yun nga lang, dahil sa dami ng naglipanang rubber shoes ngayon, hindi na sya maituturing na status symbol ng mga ~sosyal~.

Panties for Men

Since a lot of guys (who secretly lurk this blog) are requesting posts about Men’s Fashion, then here it goes. But of course, let me start with the undergarments and share my latest discovery, XDRESS.COM! An online shop that sells special lingerie for men. And when I say special, what I mean is this:

The Cherry Panty for Men

Satin Lace Garter

Macho Tartan Corset

Now, who says panties don’t look good on men?

Nyahaha! These are just a few of their sexeh products. No offense meant to cross dressers but this online shop certainly gave me a good laugh. Ang mamacho pa kasi ng mga model. Ang sakit tuloy sa bangs. :-|

Beachwear & Body Types

Filed under fashion, tips & suggestions

After posting about swimwear brands, next is to find the right swimsuit for your body type. Everyone’s not gifted with mala-FHM sexy body (or not everyone can afford surgeries) so the best thing to do is look for pieces that flatter our shape.

Small Bust
Pick cleavage-creating swimsuits like halter tops with curve neckline. Whether you prefer bikinis or one-piece suits, underwired bust line helps in improving your flat figure.

Large Bust
Some girls are blessed with large cups but that doesn’t mean they have the perfect figure. They may have large bust line but with wide hips and unwanted fats all over. The answer for this problem is wear one-piece suits with supportive straps and underwire.

Large Tummy

Corset-like designed bathing suits can make you look leaner and curvy. Choose dark-colored prints and fabric like navy or black. Ensure that the suit is constructed to make the torso part look gripped for a slimming effect.

Big Thighs
High-cut leg openings of bathing suits are suggested instead of skirted bikinis and shorts. The style elongates the legs and disquises your thick thighs.

Heavy Bottom
For girls with pear-shaped body type, it’s better to wear cover ups like an A-line short dress or skirted bikini bottom.

Hour Glass
If you have the hour glass body type, any type of swimwear actually fits you. Monokinis, triangle bikinis or even the bandeau style.

Just one tip, always fit the swimsuit before buying and freely move around the fitting room. Everytime I shop for the perfect bikini, I make sure to do jumping jacks to test if it really fits and won’t go out of its place. You can also use nipple tapes for a safer hold, kung ayaw nyong matulad sa kanya…

Srsly, we went to Boracay just to spoof this. No, I’m just kidding.

Swimwear Brands

Filed under fashion, tips & suggestions

Hi everyone, my blog’s back from outer space. Sorry for the downtime. Anyway, it’s Holy Week and while a lot of people are contemplating by this time, the rest of us are still enjoying the midst of summer with resort outings, beaches, and different adventures.

For the sake of answering e-mails regarding where to buy trendy summer attire for the beach, here are my remarks for certain Swimwear Brands I’ve checked out while shopping:

Department Store (Sassa Activewear) – starting from the cheapest brands inside the dept store, I think Sassa has the best quality. Swimsuit tops’ price starts from 299 php and a bikini set costs about 700 php.

Tomato – their bikinis cost 500 to 800 php which is not bad at all. The problem is they sell them in free size so it’s hard to find the right fitting.

Cinderella / NAFNAF – with 800 – 1000 php budget, swimwear pieces in Cinderella Store are must haves. Bikini tops are padded and fabric’s not saggy. I just noticed that they don’t upgrade the designs because I have seen the same prints from their last year’s collection.

Wet Shop – the store provides different summer wear from hats to rubber slippers. This year, they’ve been selling different styles of monokinis worth 800 to 1200 php. Wet shop bikinis have trendy designs though the material is not water-friendly, perhaps not the brand for me.

Nothing But Water – I’m not sure if this is the same with Nothing but h20 in Boracay but both stores are recommended. What I like about the brand is they sell reversible bikinis with different prints when upturned. You can also buy the bikini pieces separately. But of course they’re more pricey than the usual swimsuit from cheaper stores. Price starts from 1300 php (top or bottom piece only).

Speedo – the sports store that sells good quality swimsuits. Unlike some stores that produce pieces for the sake of style, Speedo swimsuits are really designed for its purpose – the water. Material is often nylon/spandex that doesn’t hold too much water when you swim. For a Speedo bikini set, you should have at least 2700 php budget.

Seafolly – the best swimsuit I’ve tried so far can be seen inside Rustan’s. The bikinis look chic and attention catchy which I think are way better used during photoshoots. The price for this prettiest pieces starts from 4000 php.

I think one reason that excites planned summer outings are your preparations for it. So once you have already planned for your getaway, also ready yourself with what swimsuits you’ll buy. Tutal minsan lang naman ang summer, then enjoy the sun and expose some skin! :)

Overdressing at the Beach

1

One true fact about summer is that most people go to the beach para dumisplay and not because they want to swim. Especially for those who are not into water activites and just merely want to have sun-kissed skin. Proof? A fashion feature from Marie Claire US (April 2010 ish) says that this summer’s trend will be about monokinis, big gold chains and leather. (Hello, who would swim at the beach wearing heavy chains? and leather?)

And other more swimwear from the runways you wouldn’t enjoy wearing at the beach.

Heh. Though looking at these swim suits makes me feel excited for my upcoming getaways. So expect me to post more summer related entries for the following weeks. :)
