2010 Pinoy Fashion Trends

As a tradtion of my blog, I am now posting this year’s most popular Pinoy fashion trends. As we bid goodbye to 2010, let’s first reminisce the looks that were IN and HOT (and not so hot) this year.

Pwera sa pormang Jejemon (which I know you’re already familiar with), our fashion lately has been influenced with vintage looks and clothing from the past.

V Neck / Macho Shirts

As I’ve mentioned before, dahil nga nauuso na ang magkaroon ng abs at maskuladong katawan, what would be the best clothes to match your toned body kundi ang mga fit na t-shirt with v-neck to emphasize your pecks.

Nagsulputan na rin ang kanilang followers through their youthful fashion statement like colorful dresses, mini shorts, and girly doll shoes.

Mandatory Fashion ng mga Sosyal na Bading

Fedora Hat, check. Nerd Glasses, check. Polo Shirt, check. Short Pants, check. Doctor Bag, check. Lol.

Two Toned Colors

From sunglasses, shirts, sweaters etc. Perhaps this trend was inspired by the two-toned Prada Bag.

Tulip Skirts

From Balenciaga’s futuristic design on the runways, Tulip skirts has become simpler, dainty and wearable by everyone.

Nerd Glasses

Hindi na loser ang trend na magsuot ng nerd glasses while wearing plaid shirts and style your hair in braids. Dahil nerd fashion has becoming “cute” nowadays.

Vintage Accessories

There are timeless pieces that won’t go out of date just like cameo pendants and owl necklaces. These accessories go with almost any kind of outfit so I bet this trend will last until next year.

Feather Headbands

Feathers, peacock tails, laces designed for your hair. Fasyon diba?

Military Fashion

Military fashion was defined through shoulder padded jackets and studded coats. Medyo heavy ang dating and not weather-friendly though.

Ukay Ukay

Before, Thrift Shops were kind of labelled as cheap but has now been popular especially with the youth. It’s because you get to experience the thrill in looking for trendy clothes among hundreds of 2nd hand pieces.

If you find 2010 a bit fashionable, IMO, I think it’s somewhat boring. Wala kasing masyadong pet peeves na dapat i-fashion police. Haha. But whatever 2011 brings, I hope everyone will be inspired to dress up! :)

Kustie Scrub Jam

Look what I got in the mail last weekend…

For someone like me who doesn’t have time to go to the spa, it’s really convenient to buy beauty products that can give you that ultimate spa feeling even when you’re at home. Thanks to Kustie Scrub Jam. It is a 100% natural Body scrub formulated in France that exfoliates dead skin cells for a smoother and silkier skin.

After cleansing my body, I used the Kustie Body Scrub for exfoliation. You can really feel the granules scrubing your skin unlike other body scrubs with smooth texture. I also like its sweet smell that sticks to your skin. Haha. Perhaps my only complain is its packaging. I think it’d be less messy if the packaging is in tubes.

For best results, applying body butter is better after exfoliating with the body scrub. What I like about Kustie Body Butter is it doesn’t leave a sticky feeling. The result is smooth, matte and silky skin that lasts the whole day. Honestly, I’m a lotion person (WHUT?), so I’m really not into body butter. But after trying Kustie’s Body Butter, I just realized that I need this because it feels lighter on the skin compared to lotion. Whether you have dry, normal or oily skin, I think that this product is right for you.

Kustie Scrub Jam is FDA approved and is currently available at selected outlets of Watsons Malls, SM Beauty Department store, Robinsons Supermarket, Ever Gotesco department store, St Lucia and other major retail outlets. So for vain girls and boys out there, you can try the Kustie Body Scrub Jam and enjoy an inexensive DIY spa. (Price info shown below:)

Kustie facial scrub 200mL : 379.00
Kustie body scrub 200mL : 349.00
Kustie body scrub 450mL : 599.00
Kustie body butter 200mL : 299.00

And wait, there’s more! Aside from Kustie’s Honey + Almond scent, you can aslo choose among different variants – Strawberry, Papaya, Cucumber, Coconut and Apricot.

Kustie Scrub Jam is indeed worth a try. I bet you’ll get addicted pampering yourself with their body scrub and butter. Also, it’s a good gift idea this Christmas!

Rock & Roll Theme

Hi Leyn,

I am an avid reader of your blog, and as what your other readers say, I have also read all your entries here. I like how you give fashionable tips to different kinds of your reader’s concerns.

So, I would like to ask if you can also provide me with the same tips? Our company christmas will be on the 17th and I still don’t have any idea on what to wear. We will be having a Rock and Roll theme, a not so new theme, but I would like to ace this as they will be providing a prize. Haha!. I don’t want to have an outrageous costume though, an outfit that will really stand out as THE best rock and roll outfit. I would really, really, really appreciate your help.

Thanks Leyn,

Clueless Rocker

Dear Clueless Rocker,

Just a hunch, I bet the winner on best costume will have to put on fake tattoos and exaggerated rock and roll outfit. I will have to suggest an outfit that carries a rock theme na hindi ka naman magmumukhang cheap na EMO.

When you say Rock & Roll, fashion-wise, things that come into your mind are color black, metallic, untidy hairstyle and a bit of hipster fashion statement. Here’s a looklet inspiration for you:

Nail Polish Trends 2011

Before we jump into nail polish brand reviews, let’s first know the latest nail polish trends that will be coming in this 2011. Since french manicure and bright nail enamel were all the rage last season, you might want to change the look of your nails with these colors:

Metallic / Glaze / Frost

Metallic nail colors came back straight from 80’s nail polish fashion. It’s indeed a trend right now. If you’re tired of the usual darks, pinks and other pastel shades, opt for the lighter shades of glazed nail polish.

Red Shades

The endless shades of red are also among nail polish trends F/W 2010. All the red color hues, from pussy red to pastel tones are absolutely compatible with every look starting from retro as well as classy or vintage ones.

Anything Matte

One of the leading trends of the season include the option of greige and matte nail polish colors. Greige is a neutral shade almost like color Taupe. It’s a cross between gray, brown, and beige which was made popular by Chanel on the runways. These shades fit every nail shape as well as skin tone.

So for your upcoming Christmas Party, don’t forget to pamper your nails and color them with these trendy shades!
