Slimming Hairstyles

I bet most of you have seen Charice on Glee last week. Cheers for her! But as I was watching her sing, I can’t help but notice her pigtails and flat hair. I know the getup is a part of her geek role, but her hairstyle just exposed more of her jaws and square face. (Kaya eto, se-segue nanaman ako.) Here is a list of some hair styles that can make you look a few pounds thinner.

Layered Style

Layered hair has never been outdated and the style has its practical purpose – to soften a round face and add movement to hair. It also camouflages a double chin.

Side Bangs

Side-swept bangs make round-structured face look less chubby. It creates a diagonal line that reveals the cheeckbones. Always remember that the most face-flattering part is aligned with the arch of your brow.

Long Straight

Maintaining a long and straight hair elongates your structure and makes your face look slimmer. Avoid extra volume around the cheeks (or the fullest part of the face).

Short Hair, Long Bangs

If you have short hair, keep the front strands longer and parted on the side. Just avoid blunt ends near the cheeks which will just bring out the width to the face.

Volumize!

Adding height at the crown slims by drawing the eye upward. It also makes a round face looks oval.

Bumpits

I’m really fascinated with high volume updos and before, I wondered how hair stylists do it neatly. I usually tease my hair and just apply gel to achieve this look (like Blair Waldorf’s ^), but after a few hours it flattens back easily.

Thanks to my sister, she gave me these hair inserts called Bumpits that can do fab hairstyles in just seconds, now I know the secret! I prefer volumized hair because it complements my face structure so these Bumpits are a big help for me. It comes in a package (small, medium and large). It also includes a booklet of step by step instructions for different hair styles.

Please ignore my silly smiley face. Haha! As of now, I think Bumpits are only available through Home TV Shopping. (So this post doesn’t help you at all, just pure vanity. Lol.)

Just Jeans

Hello Miss leyn! :)

Btw I follow you on twitter. And until now, I wonder about your real name. hahaha Anyway, gusto ko lang sanang humingi ng advice as to what to wear in school. I’m a college student, 5′5 mejo slim but morena (in short, dark. LOL). Gusto ko sanang maging fashionable but school policies hinder that. Kasi naman, we’re not allowed to wear sleeveless, shorts, and imagine pati leggings bawal. I hope I’m making my sentiments clear. Saka I’m comfortable with jeans, kaya sana patulong as to what to pair with them. I have another favor, pwede bang iba’t-ibang variations? Hehe. Sana matulungan mo ko.

Maraming Salamat miss leyn! More power.

Dear G,

Yeah, Leyn is just my nickname but I’m not an anonymous blogger so my real name and pictures are all over the Internet. Pero dahil hindi naman kayo yayaman sa personal info ko, just forget about it. Lol. Moving on, I already have an entry about school outfits that you might want to check. But to help you more, here are some suggestions on how you could be fashionable with jeans.

First, shop for the right jeans. Since leggings aren’t allowed in your school, I advise you to wear either straight leg, skinny fit or stretch jeans. Dark colors, particularly black, can give you variations on your everyday fashion.

Instead of the usual t-shirt, skinny jeans are better paired with jersey tops (aside from girly blouses). Jersey style looks relaxed, casual yet stylish. It can also hide bulges and can draw attention to your legs (for girls who are a bit chubby). Trendy colors that complement your skin tone are neutral shades like gray, beige and taupe…

Film: Fashion (Bollywood Movie)

Fashion (2008)

The center of the movie is about an ambitious girl, Megna Mathur who wanted to become a supermodel. She left her hometown Chandiragh and moved to Mumbai to fulfil her modeling dream which is against her father’s will. Meghna has this thirst to be the next runway’s showstopper so she had to make compromises to climb the ladder of success. As she attains her triumph, her success turns into arrogance resulting to sacrifices like losing her boyfriend (Manav) and her best friend (Janet). She then loses respect for herself as she’s slowly failing her career. At the end, Meghna gets back to her senses after seeing the worst side of fame through Shonali, a former supermodel who got addicted to drugs and drinking.

Fashion is not actually about fashion (lol) but the story gives emphasis to the consequences and glamorous life of modeling world. There are lots of moral lessons pointed out by this movie – about family, love, career and success. Just so you know, it’s a Bollywood movie so the coutures featured are Indian inspired. There were fashion names mentioned but I have no idea if they were just made up or what. Haha. The story is quite predictable but if you want a feel-good movie, you can add this film into your movie list.

Don’t forget to prepare a bag of chips and sodas, Fashion runs for 2 hours and 40 minutes (grabe ang haba!). And yes, you need to read subtitles.
