LookBook: Socks Under Sandals

This year, socks under open sandals or high heels will be at the fore. Though the most popular socks fashion for this season is at least Knee-High Socks. That includes over-the-knee and thigh socks. Not weather friendly for us but at least a fashionable alternative for skinny jeans and leggings. The trend also serves as a good news for girls who are not comfortable exposing their legs.

I did it wrong, it’s supposed to be knee-high but I was just experimenting. Hehe.

Inspiration from Alexander Wang Spring Runway 2010.

Casual Fashion for Men

Hi Leyn!

I consider myself a person who can design. I do visual art (photography and graphic design) but I think I cannot do good when it comes to styling myself. I have been reading GQ and August Man for a while now and they do help when it comes to clothing a man. But the models there are, well, good looking and slim/lean/whatever. How about for a guy like me? Ehe.

I am sort of biggie on the midsection (gah! big tummy and thigh!). I have been trying to cut that down but as of now, what are the styles you can advice? Thanks much! I trust your style that’s why I asked you. :s

If you need reference, i have attached a pic. :s

Dustin

Dear Dustin,

Basing on the picture attached, I think you pick the right clothes naman. But not the right colors. You may not be as lean as those guy models on magazines but you don’t look obese naman. I bet you already know these but as a recap, here are the basics for men with fuller bodies:

  • Wear dark-colored clothes to avoid noticeable folds and creases.
  • Avoid spandex-like material.
  • Choose fabric with minimal or small prints.
  • When layering clothes, make sure that the prints are harmonized with the other pieces you wear…

Kutis Mayaman

Random Question of the Day:

Don’t you think Jinky Oda is a more believable endorser of Glutamax…

…than Gretchen Barretto?

And watching this commercial, thus dark complexion or not-so-smooth skin means “Kutis Mahirap”?

Lol society.

Jejemons and Jejebusters

Hey Leyn,

I’m an avid reader of your blog, i love it. But before i get carried away by spilling how frequent i visit your page, here’s my query:

I’m sure that you heard about Jejemons (people who type like this: “EoW PoW UzTaH Na pOw kAyO? jEje”), how the virus spread in text messages, in friendster, and now thy are currently plaguing Facebook.

I hate Jejenism. I mean, the way they type really annoys me and I fear that one day lahat ng Pinoy ay maging jejemons na. We haters are called Jejebusters, seriously, you could look it up at urbandict.com. We do not want violence pero sila kasi ang ayaw magpadaan sa maayos na usapan.

Anyways, I just hope to get your comment on this issue. I really love your blog and more power!

Love,
~Hush

OMFG. I know the term Jejemons, but Jejenism and Jejebusters?! Too much! LOL! Eto bigla pumasok sa isip ko…

But kidding aside, the Jejemons are so 2002; way before Nokia 5110, Ragnarok and Friendster started. The label just became popular lately because everyone’s making a big deal out of it, even celebrities and on Yahoo! news. But personally speaking, I don’t want to pick on them because I’m over it. And I hope everyone does.

Pero aminin nyo, kung wala ang mga so-called Jejemons edi wala kayong pinag-ttripan ngayon. Kaya may silbi din naman sila. Don’t worry, hindi naman aabot sa “violence” ang jejenism (WTF?!) as you were worrying about. Just don’t take them seriously. And one more thing, I think it takes talent to be a Jejemon. Mahirap mag-sticky caps and weird spelling ah! Even google corrected me with this one…

Zee! i t0Ld u!
