Shala Shorts

Dear Leyn

Thank you and God bless you.

love lots
Kath

Dear Kath,

Oh hey kid. Hehe.

The tops/blouses appropriate for shorts depend on the shorts’ length, prints and style. You should be collecting different kinds of short pants so you have a variety of options. For example, if you wear knee-length shorts, a casual shirt fits better than a dainty looking blouse. On the other hand, if you prefer a girly outfit, most chic blouses look better on mini shorts unless you wear the high-waist style…

Kris Kringle Ideas

It’s almost Christmas and a lot of people have been googling about Kris Kringle Ideas so I might as well post some of my senseless suggestions. Last year, I posted an entry about sa Mga Regalong Nakaka-Umay and I hope this time, people would bother to give something more personal, useful and creative to their monitos and monitas.

Something Soft
Initial ideas that come into our mind are cute and fluffy displays like stuffed toys and useless plushies. Since a lot of people have been staying in the office most of the time, it’s better to come up with something that can give comfort to people stuck in a cubicle for 8 hours.

Suggestions: Neck Pillow, Stress Balls, Thermal Socks, Bedroom Slippers, Bra Padding (lol), or if you’re rich – a Rubber Boat

Something Long
Forget about kitchen utensils because it’s not a wedding gift. Make an effort to know your monito/monita’s leisure. He/she might be into fashion, music or books.

Suggestions: Belt, Skinny Neck Tie, Leggings, Drumsticks, Guitar Strap, Earphones, ID Lace, Bookmark

Something Small
Think of something compact yet functional. Anything that has something to do with travelling and communication is one good idea because people prefer to bring smaller things when they’re on the go.

Suggestions: USB Drive, Travel Toothbrush, Bluetooth Headset

Something Round
I’d suggest a gift that can be for everyday use. Perhaps anything practical or you can use at home.

Suggestions: Lock & Lock Food Storage, Steering Wheel Cover, Fitness Ball

Something Funny
That plastic poop available in Blue Magic is not funny. Enough said.

Suggestions: Statement Shirts, Tagalog Humor Books, Retro Wigs

In case you’re looking for stores that sell unique gift ideas, try visting Hobbes & Landes, Tickles, Clipper and Humor Post. :)

Team Edward o Team Jacob?

I’m not a fan of the Twilight Saga and I haven’t read any of its books. We were laughing the whole movie time especially that we were seated next to screaming fan girls and gay people who kept on whispering side comments whenever there are shirtless guys on the scene. Laugh trip.

I’m pretty sure some of you have already read some reliable New Moon reviews so I won’t take this seriously. There are just a few points that caught my attention:

Bakit tuwing lalabas si Edward Cullen ay slow motion ang effect? Okay sana yung unang scene na lumabas sya para may oras pa magtitili ang mga fans. Pero even on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th appearance, slomo parin ang paglalakad.

Bella stands too close to anyone who talks to her. Parang may kissing scene sya lagi.

Once more, in slow motion.

Walang masyadong aksyon at puro salitaan, but who cares?

Amazing!

And again, never ending exposures of topless boys flexing their pecs.

This movie is recommended for Twilight fans who are so in love with the princes of the book (or for some plain viewers who just want to see a bunch of shirtless men), but for casual moviegoers like me, I guess not. Regardless of the dark concept, cheesy lines and emotionless acting, I’m still watching the next movie and hoping for improvements…

…and less abs. :|

To add volume to your figure, wear a horizontal striped top for it is more fitting especially if you’re skinny. On the other hand, vertical striped clothes are recommended for fuller bodies. Know the basics!

Thanks Xyla for this fan sign. Much appreciated. :)

The Pacman Smile

One thing I look forward every Pacquiao fight is when Manny flashes that kengkoy smile once he enters the boxing arena. This simple gesture shows how happy Filipinos are despite of pressures and critics. Unlike with Pacman’s rivals who are way too serious and overconfident to win then end up with a beaten face.

Pacquiao vs. Morales

Pacquiao vs. Marquez

Pacquiao vs. Diaz

Pacquiao vs. Dela Hoya

Pacquiao vs. Hatton

Pacquiao vs. Cotto

Another win for us! And more money for Manny, ‘you know!

Smart Casual Men

Dear Sosyalera,

Hi, first of all. I’m a fan. hehe

I would like to ask for a trend tip from you for this holiday season since we don’t have winter here in Phil. What style do Filipinos have this season?

Also, I recently read about you email sender about smart casual clothing tips. coincidentally I was wondering of the same thing so i allegedly read it, but no tips were found for men. that’s why I wrote.

I work for a business outsourcing company as a lead generation specialist. I lead a small group of 6 people but we’re just of the same age (some are even older than me). our dress code is smart casual, but i don’t want to look too simple and too corporate with my appearance. I usually gear up a shirt and a blazer/jacket or sometimes printed long sleeves on jeans these past few days. my personal style is on the rugged-vintage-punk-edgy side and I love to experiment with clothing styles and accessories(recently i bought a plum and cream stripes scarf).

I’m a 21yo guy, 5′8 and slim med. built body. I’d like to know more from your point of view.

Thanks and more power!!!

adrian

Dear adrian,

We all know that a couple of typhoons destructed our country so apparently, Christmas season for this year started quite late. People are still in the recovering process and most of us are trying to lessen our expenses but without neglecting the spirit of the season. Relating to fashion, people now settle for simple but elegant styles to avoid over spending. Nearly everyone’s trying to be practical and creative in re-using some old clothes. No worries because even on the latest runway reports, neutrals and simple pieces are worn together to form a fashion.

When you’re unsure of what to wear, stick with the timeless black and white pieces that won’t go out of date whether casual or formal.

Just break the dullness of black & white hues with a bib necklace, vintage belt or bow/tie.

Huh-reem Pants

“Pants Are Getting Weirder and Weirder everyday!
Luckily, it’s not the last fashion…
It looks like a t-shirt put backwards or something like that…”
- Izismile.com

LOL! I didn’t fall in love with the pants when I first saw it in TOPSHOP. But I was planning to buy a pair to try the feeling. Haha.

It’s called the Hareem Pants. I saw a cheaper alternative, about 450(?) pesos in a new store named Mental. But if you’re broke and desperate to wear this style, then I guess you have to stick with the idea of wearing a t-shirt the wrong way around. Wenk.

Generic Pinoy Tattoos

2

I have nothing against people who have tattoos. Even most of my friends  tried it already. Perhaps I won’t encourage my kids for a permanent ink on their skin because it doesn’t look good anymore when they get old. Haha. Relating to this, eto ang mga common Pinoy tattoos of all time:

Dragon:

You really have to think a hundred times before you decide about having a tattoo. ‘wag natin gawin ito para lang maki-IN o magmukhang cool. Kung gusto mong magmukhang cool eh mag shades ka nalang. I believe tattooing is an art and part of our rich culture. If you want to have one, think of something unique that defines your personality and not just another show-off to impress other people.
